Congregation Agudas Achim Presents Intermarriage Speaker Series
Social psychologist Leonard Saxe of Brandeis University will launch Congregation Agudas Achim’s fall and winter speaker series on intermarriage and interfaith families Sunday, Nov. 12.
The 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. program will begin with breakfast and Saxe’s presentation, followed by comments from sociologist and demographer David McClendon and remarks by CAA’s Rabbi Neil Blumofe.
, director of the Cohen Center for Modern Jewish Studies and the Steinhardt Social Research Institute at Brandeis, has been a Fulbright professor at the University of Haifa. He studies Jewish identity.
McClendon, assistant director of research at the Houston-based nonprofit Children at Risk, has written about the influences on interfaith partnering and published studies on marriage markets in young adulthood. He received a bachelor’s degree in religious studies from the College of William and Mary and his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin.
