Rabbi Connects with Longtime Benefactors of B'nai Abraham Synagogue

Rabbi Daniel Millner of Congregation Tiferet Israel, recently connected with Mimi and Leon Toubin, longtime benefactors and caretakers of the B’nai Abraham Synagogue, at the former synagogue site in downtown Brenham.  Relocated in 2015 to the Dell Jewish Community Campus, B’nai Abraham, the oldest synagogue building in Texas, underwent major renovations and today serves as the home of Congregation Tiferet Israel, Austin’s Modern Orthodox synagogue, and a resource to Shalom Austin and the entire Jewish community. Millner and the Toubins along with former Shalom Austin CEO Jay Rubin had participated in a program at Brenham’s St Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church earlier in the day sharing the B’nai Abraham and Tiferet Israel story with the congregation. On November 3, Shalom Austin received the Preservation Austin Stewardship Award at a luncheon ceremony at the Driskill Hotel in recognition of the successful relocation and restoration of the historic synagogue. ■
