Generations Campaign Receives Gift from Youngest Supporter

After receiving a Generations Campaign fundraising letter in the mail, 6-year-old Mushka Johnson, daughter of Chabad at UT Executive Director Rabbi Zev Johnson, wanted to be part of the community and send money.

Rabbi Johnson replied, “She asked me what it is and she said I want to send some money. So $1.10 will be heading your way from Mushka.”

Mushka’s donation will contribute to the $25 million Generations Campaign, the first capital campaign since the Dell Jewish Community Campus opened in January 2000, to complete the original campus vision and meet the needs of the growing Austin Jewish community. The Generations Campaign will create new facilities where people from across the community with varied interests and at different life stages can meet, socialize, learn and play.

“We are all so taken by the sweet story of Mushka. We appreciate all contributions large and small from old and young who will enjoy the enhancements we are working on for the Generations project,” said Generations Campaign Director Harriett Kirsh Pozen.

As of November 2017, the Generations Campaign has raised over $19 million from more than 250 individuals, families and corporations. Since reaching $12.5 million, every dollar is matched by the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation. ■
