Jewish Federation Kicks Off Annual Campaign with Signature Events

The Jewish Federation of Greater Austin is kicking off its 2017 Annual Campaign with a more consolidated timeline of fundraising in an effort to make a bigger impact. Similar to last year, the Federation is encouraging community members to make their pledge between February 1 and May 10 (which can be paid through March 31, 2018). While historically fundraising efforts for the Annual Campaign have extended throughout most of the calendar year, this shift aligns fundraising efforts with the Jewish Federation’s signature philanthropy events – Young Adult Division’s Milestone Gala, Momentum Men’s Night Out and the Women’s Division Mosaic Celebration. It also enables Federation professional and lay leaders to properly plan and assess community needs for the year ahead and reduces the administrative costs of fundraising year-round via mailings, staff time and phone-a-thons.

The Young Adult Division’s 8th Annual Milestone Gala will take place on Saturday, February 18 at 7 p.m. in the JCC Community Hall on the Dell Jewish Community Campus. Co-chairs Zoe Bernbaum and Ben Kogut along with their committee have planned an event to “celebrate the night in black and white.” The evening includes a full night of friends, philanthropy, and fun, bringing together young adults who inspire each other in this thriving and growing Jewish community. Jerrod Kogut and Samantha Tugentman will be receiving the Hineni Award, to honor them as outstanding young leaders in our community.  The cost to attend Milestone is $45 per person ($60 after February 3) plus an individual giving to the Annual Campaign.  The suggested minimum donation is $180 to the 2017 Jewish Federation of Greater Austin Annual Campaign payable over 12 months.

The 9th Annual Momentum Men’s Night Out Dinner will take place on Wednesday, March 8 beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the Four Seasons Hotel. Chaired by Bill and Joel Waxman, the night promises to be full of networking, fun and philanthropy that features a look back on where the community has come from and what it has accomplished. While the opening of the Dell Jewish Community Campus almost 20 years ago was a dream becoming a reality, there is still many ways that it can improve and grow to continue to support the growing Austin Jewish community. This year the Men’s Division will be presenting the Joe Krassner Campaign Leadership Award for the first time at Momentum. This year’s recipient is Adam Loewy. The cost to attend Momentum is $65 per person ($80 after February 22) plus a minimum $180 donation to the Jewish Federation of Greater Austin Annual Campaign payable over 12 months.

Join the Jewish Federation of Greater Austin Women’s Division as they host Mosaic’s 18th birthday bash. The 18th annual Mosaic will be held on Monday, April 3 beginning with a pre-party at 10:30 a.m. at the Hyatt Regency Austin. Chaired by Lauren Halpern and Courtney Caplan Young, this celebration of women’s philanthropy will look at the impact that the many volunteers of women’s division have had on the Austin community. Women’s Division is proud to be recognizing Susan Epstein, the 2017 Woman of Valor, for her many years of dedication and passion to the Jewish Federation and Shalom Austin. The cost to attend Mosaic is $50 per person ($60 after March 20) plus a minimum $180 donation to the Jewish Federation of Greater Austin Annual Campaign payable over 12 months.

From birth to Birthright and leadership to legacy, no single gift touches more lives. Joining nearly 1,700 other community members, a contribution to the Annual Campaign creates a collective impact and allows the Federation to respond to the growing needs and interests in our community. It allows the community to stand against real problems like joblessness, financial hardship and isolation among older adults. It allows the community to stand for the importance of Jewish heritage, engagement and experiences that collectively make a more powerful force for good in Austin, Israel and around the world. By making an investment in our community, we are stronger together. A great way to support the Annual Campaign and gain a deeper connection to our local community is by attending one of these upcoming signature events.
