Congregation Shir Ami Celebrates Annual Blessing of the Animals

Members of Congregation Shir Ami, other animal lovers from Travis and Williamson Counties and their animal companions celebrated the Blessing of the Animals in June at Anderson Mill West Park in Cedar Park.

The group celebrated with a ceremony affirming the special role that beloved pets and other animals play in our lives. Misty Valenta, Williamson County Regional Animal Shelter community programs coordinator, along with a WCRAS foster mom to dogs who need hospice and end-of-life care, were the event’s featured speakers.

Those wishing for a personal blessing for their animals cued up for blessings and certificates from Congregation Shir Ami’s Rabbi Rebecca Reice. While waiting, people and animals took advantage of a photo booth and vendor fair.
