Lawrence Maze is a true mensch, as anyone who knows him will attest. The longtime Jewish Family Service Cabinet member is being honored this month for his years of support for the programs provided by JFS. The event is scheduled to take place Sunday, November 11, at Olive & June restaurant, and is being generously sponsored by the families of Martin and Pam Cirkiel and Shawn and Bria Cirkiel.
Before recently stepping down from his role on the Cabinet, Maze served as a member of the advisory group for more than 14 years. Throughout his years of involvement, he was a tireless advocate for high quality, professional human services being provided by and for the Central Texas Jewish community.
Maze was always willing to share valuable insight on the needs of older adults based on his professional experience as a leader in residential care services, as well as his current role as co-founder of Caresearch, a firm providing skilled, well-vetted caregivers for older adults and people who are disabled and in need of various levels of in-home care.
Jewish Family Service Executive Director Gil Levy said, “Lawrence has been a valuable resource to me, probably much more than he realizes. He is passionate about the services we provide, and he has always been focused on the overall health and capacity of the organization to ensure that JFS is well positioned for the future. Lawrence is also eager to roll up his sleeves and pitch in to do whatever is needed to help JFS move forward.”
“On top of that, he brings a historical perspective of the organization and how it fits into and meets the needs of the Austin community. I’ve found his counsel to be extremely valuable. I’m excited to take a few minutes to say thanks to Lawrence for all he has done for JFS and I hope folks will join us there,” Levy added.
Funds raised at the event will go to the JFS emergency financial assistance fund which provides support for basic needs such as rent and utilities for people facing financial hardship.
Sponsorships for the November 11 event begin at $1,800 and individual tickets at $180.
