From the Shalom Austin CEO: Shalom Austin IGNITES Into Spring
According to native Austonians, this winter is one of the coldest and dampest in recent memory. Multiple days of below freezing temperatures causing school closures and even our own campus to close is a rare occurrence. However, spring is just around the corner and we will soon be yearning for cooler weather as summer follows.
Spring is a time for the rejuvenation of mother nature and for us as a community. We are excited to come together as one community on Sunday, March 25 for IGNITE!, our annual fundraising event. 1,200 community members will join together to celebrate and raise support for our sacred community.
I hope you will also consider joining us over the next two months as we convene for our annual observances: Yom HaShoah (Holocaust Remembrance Day), Yom HaZikaron (Israeli Memorial Day) and Yom Ha’atzmaut (Israeli Independence Day). This year, we will be holding a special celebration to celebrate Israel’s 70th birthday on Sunday, April 22 at the JCC.
Camp registration is also open for the summer. I hope you will consider joining us this summer for some amazing camp fun at the JCC. Included in this issue is a summer camp guide including pictures from the Free Day of Camp activity.
As we celebrate Purim and Passover, in the beginning of spring, may we be compelled to share happiness and joy with our friends, family and those in need. And may we use our communal gatherings to inspire each other.
