NCJW Presents “From Golda to Gal Gadot: Women in Israel”
National Council of Jewish Women will hold a networking and speaker program Thursday, March 8, featuring guest speaker Maiya Chard-Yaron, executive director of Texas Hillel. Chard-Yaron will discuss “From Golda to Gal Gadot: Women in Israel.”
From the generation of founding pioneers to the startup nation the country is today, women in Israel have had unique opportunities, challenges and roles in the evolution of the Jewish state.
Chard-Yaron will discuss amazing Israeli women blazing a trail of empowerment and equality, and will engage with some current key topics being discussed in Israel including women's rights, gender issues, marriage and family law, and more.
Chard-Yaron joined the Texas Hillel team as executive director in 2017. She works closely with students, staff and the broader community to advance Hillel's work on campus and to inspire every Jewish student to create an enduring commitment to Jewish life, learning and Israel.
Before her arrival to the Forty Acres Scholars Program, Chard-Yaron spent five years with Maryland Hillel as assistant director and director of educational engagement, and previously worked as program director at Hillel at Davis and Sacramento.
Chard-Yaron holds a master’s degree in experiential Jewish education from the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, and a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Columbia College of Columbia University. Originally from San Diego, California, she has traded the Pacific Ocean for Lady Bird Lake, and is thrilled to now call Austin her home.
The NCJW networking and speaker event will be held at a home in Northwest Hills. Networking time will begin at 7 p.m., and the program will be held from 7:30 p.m. until 8:45 p.m. ■
