Austin Jewish Business Network Features Teamwork Speaker

By Jennifer Lava

Austin Jewish Business Network’s next speaker and networking event will feature Joshua Lawton, co-founder and managing partner of Health Hat, who will present “Getting the Most Out of Your Team.”

The event will be held April 17 at the Frisco Diner.

Being a Texan, it is hard to not fall into the individual ruggedness ideal that permeates Texas based on vaqueros and cowboys roaming the plains, roping longhorns, driving them to market and making Texas what it is today. But that is because the closest most of us have gotten to a cattle drive is watching a show at home. It took a team to get those longhorns to market, and it takes a team to get your product or business off the ground. Come learn lessons that will help you form your own team while enjoying stories of success, failure, and humor from an individual who has led efforts for White House programs and built teams in the private, public and startup communities.

Lawton is a recovering Trekkie, full-time entrepreneur, lifelong investor, part-time writer and a once upon a time combat medic. He is currently the co-founder and managing partner of Health Hat, a healthcare technology company that assists hospital networks and clinics quickly mitigate operational problems thereby increasing revenue and patient satisfaction.

He has built products and teams in both the private and public sectors and has testified before the United States Senate Committee on Veterans' Affairs. He is an alum of both Johns Hopkins University and McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin. Follow him on Twitter @alertingmainst.

AJBN invites to the event all Jews, those partnered with Jews and Shalom Austin members. AJBN welcomes people in all fields and professions, people hiring, people looking for work, people providing services, entrepreneurs, those who work for others, those new in town and who have been living in Austin for years. Bring business cards, promotional materials or resumes to share.

AJBN’s monthly networking and educational meetings are on the third Tuesday of each month from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Frisco Diner, 6801 Burnet Road, in the glass atrium on the Burnet Road side of the building.

AJBN does not charge an entrance fee, but attendees are required to order a meal, not just a drink or dessert, while enjoying an evening of networking, education, camaraderie and door prizes. The Frisco is an Austin original, has a great menu and serves alcohol. There will be table service and separate checks. Attendees are asked to generously tip the staff.

For questions, to donate door prizes or to volunteer as a speaker, contact Jody Lockshin, chairman, at Jody@HabitatHunters.com. ■
