Jewish War Veterans Present History of Jews in the Military Event

By Earle Sherrod

Austin Post 757 of the Jewish War Veterans of United States will present a history of Jews in the United States military and the documentary film “True Honor,” story of the Jewish Service members who won the Medal of Honor.

The free event will be held Sunday, April 29, at 2 p.m. in the Austin Jewish Academy multipurpose room on the second floor of the main JCC Building, Dell Jewish Community Campus, 7300 Hart Lane, Austin, Texas 78731. While there is no charge for the event, donations will be accepted to help hospitalized and homeless veterans in Central Texas.

The purpose of the event is to educate the community on the sacrifices of the Jewish men and women in support of the United States throughout its history; to provide the members of the Jewish community with factual information to counter anti-Semitic remarks and rumors that Jews do not support the country and have never served in its military; and to help build pride among members of Austin’s Jewish community.

In addition to the presentations, information tables will detail military uniforms throughout history, models of military aircraft from Korea to Vietnam, and Jewish War Veterans.  ■
