Austin Jewish Repertory Theater and Trinity Street Players Present Kindertransport

By Adam Roberts

The Austin Jewish Repertory Theater, a sponsored project of Shalom Austin, and Trinity Street Players were proud to co-produce "Kindertransport" this April. Programmed to coincide with Yom HaShoah, Diane Samuels’ play provided audiences a surrealistic journey into the aftermath of the Holocaust.

In his review, Austin American-Statesman critic Andrew J. Friedenthal wrote that the production “could not be more timely. As a deep exploration of the immigrant experience, and the ways in which it is a heartbreaking test of the self rather than any sort of free ride, the play clearly holds contemporary relevance... Kindertransport ...is a necessary exploration of how events unfolded historically so that we can — hopefully — learn how to keep them from recurring.”

The production was directed by Jim Lindsay and starred Francis Bello, Jessica Cohen, Laurie Coker, Taylor Flannigan, Laura Galt Snavely, Sammy Panzarino and Peggy Schott.
