Clouds were in the sky July 15, but that was good news for the families who attended the laid-back Sunday Funday. The breeze kept the heat at bay so everyone could enjoy some  Jim-Jim’s Water-Ice, JoeBob’s Kosher BBQ and music. Eight new families joined the community that day—be sure to welcome them if you meet them.

The next Sunday Funday will be the biggest yet. To celebrate back to school, the event will feature a water slip and slide, Rosen’s Bagels, ice cream sundaes and a live band. Rising Ivy has performed at various locations around the city, but this is their first paid gig—a big step for the rock quartet of rising fourth graders from Hill Elementary School.

There will be no registration fees that day, so if you’re interested in joining the Jewish Community Center of Austin, be sure to drop by the Welcome Desk or call (512) 735-8000 to sign up. ■
