Shalom Austin’s annual literary series, JBookFest, is about to complete its 35th year. This year’s series featured internationally renowned authors and their latest works with lectures and discussions.

The 11 different events hosted this year offered something for everyone. It kicked off with the third annual Leslie Brittman Literary Event, which showcased Yvette Manessis Corporon’s novel “Something Beautiful Happened,” a stunning, personal testimony of a Jewish family protected by an entire Greek island during World War II.

JBookFest also included Women’s Philanthropy signature event Book Lovers Luncheon that featured local author and community member Juli Berwald.

Whether it is the history of Judaism and stories of adversity, or discussions on the creation of international icons like Superman and The Simpsons, JBookFest provided Austin’s community with true literary masterpieces. ■
