Members of NCJW-Austin Section joined hundreds of active, progressive neighbors at the Austin Women’s Rally 2019 at the Texas State Capitol Jan. 19.
The annual Texas Reproductive Rights Rally expanded its scope this year to support and amplify a greater diversity of women and the issues that affect them. Stressing the need for unity, this event afforded participants an opportunity to share compassionate, inclusive space with allies on myriad social justice issues.
Presenters passionately shared their professional, personal and political experiences on topics including immigration, reproductive justice, gender identity, racial bias, intimate partner and sexual violence, discrimination based on sexual orientation, and gender inequity.
Rectifying these issues and ending the very real struggle too many people face daily for the right to live and love freely and safely, in a community where they feel included, valued, and respected are at the core of NCJW. ■
