In January, more than 200 Reform Jews and their guests participated in the second annual MLK Social Justice Weekend.

This year’s event, a joint project of the area’s three Reform congregations—Temple Beth Shalom, Congregation Shir Ami and Congregation Beth Israel—centered around the issue of racial justice. Participants recited the blessing over challah together, worshiped together and learned about policies and issues that have an impact on furthering racial justice.

This weekend serves as a springboard for social action by the Reform Jews of the Austin area and the greater Austin Jewish community. ■
