The community is still buzzing about this year's Family Fun Day. The Early Childhood Program parents put together an amazing event.
The committee set an ambitious goal to raise $25,000 this year, and they surpassed it. Those who sponsored an activity, made a donation, attended and volunteered contributed to the overwhelming success of the 2019 Family Fun Day: ECP City Limits. This year's event raised an astonishing $32,000.
After covering expenses, $26,000 is being put directly back towards the growth of the ECP in the following ways:
$10,000 will be used for approximately 32 new wood tables for two age groups.
$7,000 will be used for professional development for teachers, including supporting an Educator’s Sheva trip to Israel this April for Robin from the Giraffes class and Sagan from the Seals class.
$6,000 will be used for playground equipment—an interactive S.T.E.M. outdoor wall, updated courtyard structures and replacement toys.
$2,000 will be distributed; $100 will be given to each class for educator wish lists.
$1,000 will be used for Sheva materials—loose parts and natural materials for classrooms that support provocations and investigations honoring children as constructivist learners.
Those who were unable to attend Family Fun Day or who missed the opportunity to contribute still have time to support the ECP with a tax-free donation at shalomaustin.org/ffddonation. ■
