Each year, approximately 150 to 200 adults attend the Shalom Austin Adult Programs Passover Seder. The annual event has been a longstanding tradition for many years.
Holiday luncheons, including the Adult Programs Passover Seder, are of great importance. For some attendees, this Seder will be their only observance of the holiday. This is a wonderful time when participants from all over the Jewish community come together and celebrate.
Annie Skelton, adult program coordinator, said, “Women’s Philanthropy, formerly the Women’s Division, has hosted. Local clergy have led the service. The event has always been sponsored financially through the generosity of local living facilities. With Jewish Family Service we do outreach to provide transportation and a place for people to share the holiday together.”
This year’s Shalom Austin Adult Programs Passover Seder will be led by Rabbi Neil Blumofe of Congregation Agudas Achim and sponsored by Atria Senior Living. The event is supported by Women’s Philanthropy and made possible in part by contributions from the Loewy Law Firm to the Shalom Austin Annual Campaign.
Women’s Philanthropy creates a beautiful and festive environment with great servers so our participants need not worry about a thing. All attendees receive a kosher lunch along with a clergy-led program at cost.
Staff members provide transportation and work with Jewish Family Service and local living facilities to ensure that their Jewish participants can attend. ■
