Jewish Austin Men (JAMen), Shalom Austin’s dynamic men’s group, will welcome Terry Lickona, the legendary executive producer of “Austin City Limits,” the longest-running music series in American television history, May 15 for the final event of the 2018-2019 Season.

Lickona will take a look back at the Austin music scene he helped put on the world stage with his presentation, “Celebrating Four Decades Inside Austin’s Eclectic Music Scene.” Through his 40 years with “Austin City Limits” and as co-producer of the Grammy Awards show, Lickona has worked with the greatest music performers of his time. He will share his eye-opening tales and fascinating behind-the-scenes stories with the JAMen audience.

Thanks to Lickona, and the award-winning series he produces, Austin has become synonymous with authentic, eclectic music. Music fans and Austin history buffs will not want to miss this event.

Lickona has been the producer, and is now executive producer, of "Austin City Limits" since 1978. He has also produced other specials and series for public television, cable, domestic and foreign syndication, home video and DVD – more than 800 programs, with artists ranging from Ray Charles and Johnny Cash to Juanes, Coldplay and Neil Young to Willie Nelson, Arcade Fire, Radiohead and Pearl Jam.

Lickona has been co-producer of the Grammy Awards show on CBS since 2012. He served as chairman of the board of trustees of the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences from 2005-2006. He also currently serves on the board of the Latin Recording Academy.

Tickets to the event are $20 for JAMen members and $50 for nonmembers. Tickets include access to the cocktail hour, a delicious buffet dinner featuring kosher barbecue and a variety of sides, vegetarian options, beer and wine pairings, and seats at Lickona’s presentation. Registration is open now and seats are limited. ■
