On May 21, Austin's Jewish community gathered to celebrate and honor the newest graduates of the Florence Melton School of Adult Jewish Learning.
This year's Melton graduates were Hank Crane, Susie Krumholz, Kayna Levy, Shaina Nash, Lisa Pilgrim, Phil Sutherland and Janice Taylor.
The Melton program has been a staple of the Austin Jewish community for years. Graduates commit to two years of intensive learning, with 30 weekly sessions each year, representing hundreds of hours of learning.
Melton instructors are clergy and educators from throughout the city, dedicated to providing an excellent experience for Melton students. Instructors this year were Rabbi Neal Blumofe, Dana Baruch, Rabbi Rebecca Reice and Cathy Schechter.
Melton students represent all walks of life, all Jewish backgrounds and all levels of Jewish education. The program is known for creating an immersive cohort experience. Many Melton students create lifelong relationships and continue learning together after the program has concluded.
Mazal tov to the 2019 Melton graduates on this amazing accomplishment! ■
