From the very first week this summer, JCamps were an absolute blast. Each week, campers brought so much energy as they tried out all the awesome activities JCamps staff planned for them. Whether they were cooling off in the pool, playing music, trying out archery, or playing kickball and soccer, everybody was safe and had a lot of fun.
Two Israeli ambassadors were at JCamps this summer, Noa and Ori. They taught the Hebrew word of the day, and Ori was the camp athletics specialist, and Noa taught Israeli Kef.
The second week of camp was full of energy and ruach (spirit). Campers really pushed themselves and learned new things each day. Between field trips to Zilker Park, popping balloons in archery, and Pride Day, complete with a parade and special activities, all had so much fun at JCamps.
Some new campers joined Session B, when everybody had the chance to express themselves with Crazy Sock Day. Kochavim campers spent the night Thursday, and Friday all the bunks took field trips.
The next week was shorter but filled with plenty of activities as campers got to celebrate at the Mega 4th of July Extravaganza, with water slides, balloon animals, a petting zoo and snacks
Campers celebrated Texas Day, when everybody rocked cowboy boots, hats and Texas colors. Friday was Splash Day, and all the campers got to cool down by splashing around and eating snacks. The Stars Alive Show Choir Showcase was absolutely amazing, as campers learned four performances in just four days.
The second week of JCamps Session C was wild because all the campers were competing in Maccabiah. Campers were split into the Blue Seals team or the White Polar Bears team and competed to see who could earn the most points through winning relays, cheer-offs, swim events, good sportsmanship, teamwork, and respect for others.
The last session of camp included Israel Day and a Shir Show to celebrate the end of a fantastic camp season. ■
