With the start of the new year, Shalom Austin is finding new ways to partner with Jewish organizations all over Austin. On Sept. 18, Partnership2Gether, a partnership between the Jewish Agency for Israel and Shalom Austin focused on establishing networks between communities globally, visited the Austin Jewish community from Akko and Budapest to train educators, rabbis, staff and lay leaders on how they can build connections with Israel.
From twinning (interacting and learning through technology) to book clubs, there are so many ways to connect over technology.
Members of Partnership2Gether will be joining Shalom Austin for the J-Lead kick-off retreat in November, where they will connect with peer leaders in the Austin Jewish community as well as teach a session on Israel and Overseas Judaism. They will also host a course later in the year.
Shalom Austin is looking forward to this new year of connecting with overseas partnerships. ■
Shalom Austin's Partnership with Israel and Overseas
Partnership2Gether is a global platform promoting people-to-people relationships between Israel and communities throughout the world. Austin is one of 12 cities in the United States making up the Central Area Consortium.
The partnership is focused on building networks, exchanging ideas, engaging in collaborative projects and developing new relationships to strengthen global Jewish identity and make life-changing impact for Jews in Israel, the United States, Budapest and Hungary.
Through contributions to the Annual Campaign, Shalom Austin provides support for Partnership2Gether’s programs, which provide medical care, educate future leaders, assist people in need and foster cultural, social and economic initiatives.
